Our Bicentennial

Dayton, OH – Sunday, May 12 will mark a special day in the ongoing 200th Anniversary Celebration for First Baptist Church of Dayton. As part of the Sunday morning worship service, the church will dedicate an Ohio Historical Marker on its front lawn at Monument Avenue and Ludlow Street. Representatives from Ohio History Connection will help unveil the new sign and speak to the importance of recognizing the long-standing history of the church in the community.

Welcome

First Baptist Church of Dayton is a progressive, American Baptist church located in the heart of downtown Dayton. We are a Christian community striving to be the “body of Christ” here in the city and beyond. And we are a Welcoming & Affirming congregation. Join us as we seek to love God and our neighbors.

Values that lead us

01

Come Worship With Us!

Each Sunday we gather to worship God, coming from all around the greater Dayton area. We are diverse in many ways, but here we declare and celebrate that we are one in Christ. And so, it is in his name that we invite you to come and worship with us!

02

Mission & Service – Get Involved!

We engage in a variety of ministries to and with our neighbors—near and far—from urban gardening and home/neighborhood improvement projects here in Dayton to a mission partnership with Baptists in El Salvador involving food security and access to education. Christ has called us to a life of service, and we invite you to answer that call, too, by getting involved.

03

Children & Youth

Children and youth of all ages at First Baptist are welcomed and loved, and we value their insights and their gifts. They join with the whole church in being taught and nurtured in Christian faith through worship, Bible study, service and fellowship.

04

Join With Us!

We welcome any and all to join us as we “strive to be steadfast and joyful Christians continually seeking to understand and proclaim God’s unfolding Word.” We invite you to come and be a part of this community, as we learn what it means to follow Christ.

Discipleship

Jesus said, “Follow me.” Everything we do as a church is an attempt to do just that. We do our best to create an environment of learning that nurtures our hearts and challenges our minds.
